海盐腔 戏曲声腔。因形成于浙江海盐而得名，与余姚腔、弋阳腔、昆山腔并称为明代南戏四大声腔。据陆容《菽园杂记》记载，成化年间，嘉兴府之海盐县已"有习为倡优者,名曰'戏文子弟'",海盐腔已在当地兴起。至嘉靖、隆庆年间，流布地区已扩展到嘉兴、湖州、温州、南京、台州、苏州、松江，远及江西宜黄、北京等地。 海盐腔为曲牌联套体结构的传奇体制，行当分生、旦、净、末、丑。演唱时，用鼓、板、锣等打击乐伴奏而不被管弦。采用官话，也有"滚调"唱法。腔调清柔、婉折,为官僚、士大夫所爱好。缙绅富家宴请宾客时,往往招海盐子弟演唱。若系清唱则不用锣鼓，只用拍板或以手拍板来代替。海盐腔与弋阳腔盛行以后，逐步取代了北曲杂剧在戏曲舞台上的地位，对戏曲声腔剧种的发展产生了重要影响。魏良辅等革新昆山腔，就继承和吸收了海盐腔和弋阳腔，故旧有变海盐、弋阳故调为昆山腔之说。万历年间,新的昆山腔盛行,采用弦管伴奏,"流丽悠远，出乎三腔（海盐、余姚、弋阳）之上，听之最足荡人。"（徐渭《南词叙录》）因此，"旧凡唱南调者，皆曰'海盐'，今'海盐'不振，而曰'昆山'"（王骥德《曲律》）。 海盐腔的渊源，旧有二说：①明李日华《紫桃轩杂缀》称，南宋时张镃在海盐"作园亭自恣。令歌儿衍曲，务为新声，所谓'海盐腔'也"。这里指的是张镃家乐中歌童们所传唱的曲调，其实当时所唱的只是"词调"，还不能认为是南戏的一种声腔。②清王士祯《香祖笔记》称："今世俗所谓海盐腔者，实发于贯酸斋。"王的说法依据的是《乐郊私语》，此书记述了元末杨梓与贯云石（酸斋）的交往，说贯是名歌手，并且擅场乐府、散套,杨梓得到他的传授,后来海盐杨家的歌童就以善歌南、北曲出了名。王士祯认为海盐腔就是由此而来的。这一说法也待进一步考证。由于史料不足，目前学术界对海盐腔的源流，说法不一，有待研究。
