传播学传播学communicationtheories研究人类信息传播行为及其规律的综合性学科。传播是英语communication一词的汉译，意指思想、观念、意见的相互交流。源出拉丁语communis，意即共同分享。因此，传播就是与人共享信息、观念、意见的过程。对于人类传播现象和行为作系统、科学的研究，始于20世纪20年代的美国。H.D.拉斯韦尔提出的关于传播的模式与功能，对传播学的发展具有较大影响。W.施拉姆于1948年在伊利诺伊大学成立了美国第一个传播研究所，把新闻学同传播学结合起来。传播学者们把信息、控制、反馈、系统等概念引入传播研究，提出了一系列新的理论模式，从而使传播学形成初步体系。60年代前后，传播研究在西欧各国普遍开展起来。中国开展传播研究，则在80年代初。在传播学的发展过程中，传播学者们由于在理论基础、思想方法和研究方法上的区别，逐步形成了两大派别：美国的传统经验学派和西欧的新兴批判学派。传播学的一般理论，涉及信息的理论、符号的理论、意义的理论、传播过程和效果的理论等。它是关于一般传播规律的初步总结。传播学的理论分支，有个人自身传播、人际传播、团体传播、组织传播和大众传播。传播学研究中有两种基本方法，即科学主义的方法和人文主义的方法。前者又称经验主义、行为主义或定量分析的方法。
