疯牛病分子式:CAS号:性质:又称为牛海绵状脑病。是一种牛的中枢神经受到感染后逐步退化的疾病,这种疾病在英国于1985年首次被诊断出来,是由于用死于羊痒病的羊制成的饲料添加剂喂牛而传染给牛。但因本病潜伏期长(2~8年),直到1992年才出现疯牛病的爆发高峰,仅1997年就有37~38万头牛染上疯牛病。一旦牛感染该病后中枢神经退化,脾气多变,情绪紧张并具有进攻性;有不正常姿势,不协调动作或起立困难;产奶量减少,体重下降,胃口减退。在英国发现这些病牛一般牛龄在3~5岁,引起这病的原因有家族性遗传或受蛋白病毒(prion)感染所致。朊病毒是一种不含核酸的蛋白质,它在正常情况下是以无害的形式存在,但一旦其空间构象上的变化就可导致成为有害的蛋白粒子。蛋白病毒具有遗传、传染和自行发生等表现形式。至今已发现它对绵羊、山羊、水貂、猫科动物、灵长类等均有传染性。并初步证明人的某些痴呆症也与蛋白病毒有关。
