用氢氧化镁作阻燃剂制备阻燃PP的方法聚丙烯(PP)以其密度小、力学性能好、耐化学腐蚀、易加工、耐热变形温度高、价格低廉等突出优点,在许多行业得到了广泛的应用。阻燃PP已成为使用阻燃剂量最大、增长最快的高聚物阻燃材料。氢氧化镁[Mg(OH)2]作为一种无卤阻燃剂,除能阻燃外还有消烟性能,而且脱水温度高,比较适于加工温度较高的PP等高聚物阻燃改性,在降低对环境的危害和材料安全处理方面更能满足有关法规的要求,同时也使阻燃塑料更易于再生利用。特别是Mg(OH)2原料来源丰富,价格低廉,用它作为PP的阻燃剂有较高的经济效益,所以近年全国各地对用Mg(OH)2阻燃PP十分重视。 然而目前多数企业在用Mg(OH)2阻燃PP时,由于Mg(OH)2用量不足,需添加其他阻燃剂,致使配方成本居高不下。为此,笔者谈一下在用Mg(OH)2作PP阻燃剂时应注意的一些事项。用Mg(OH)2阻燃PP时,为使材料达到UL94V-0阻燃级(3.2mm试样),用量应≥60%,不过,如用Mg(OH)2抑烟,则用量可低一些,含40%Mg(OH)2的PP的烟密度仅为未阻燃PP的约1/3。当PP中Mg(OH)2含量达65时,其机械性能,特别是抗冲强度和伸长率均显著劣化。为了使Mg(OH)2阻燃PP材料的力学性能不至下降很多,应选择粒径微细、粒径分布窄而均匀的Mg(OH)2作原料,并进行双偶联表面处理,以改善物料的流变性能,促进混炼加工时通过Mg(OH)2/PP表面导热而避免形成局部热点,并提高Mg(OH)2与PP的相容性,使其能在聚合物中较均匀地分散。 采用这种经处理的Mg(OH)2阻燃PP时,在对PP作增韧改性后,即使高Mg(OH)2含量的阻燃PP也可获得良好的加工性能及物理机械性能。为使Mg(OH)2在PP中均匀分散,可用布斯捏合机(BussKenader),或德国产双螺杆混炼挤出机,或往复式单螺杆混炼挤出机来进行混炼,并采用合理的加料混合混炼方式。例如,可将全部PP及增韧剂与所需量60%的Mg(OH)2第一次加入混合混炼机中先混合混炼数分钟后,再第二次加入余下的Mg(OH)2。 在加料时应注意加料要均匀,计量要准确。若采用密炼机混炼,对Mg(OH)2除采用两次加入法外,还要准确计量装料率在87%~93%范围内较好。当装料率较少时,混炼效果差,当装料率>95%时,易造成Mg(OH)2凝集结团,难以分散均匀。混炼不均匀不仅使阻燃性能降低,而且拉伸强度和断裂伸长率都降低,制品外观也较差。总之,采用对PP良好的增韧改性,用经特殊表面处理并对粒径及粒度分布控制的Mg(OH)2,采用适宜的混炼机械及两次加料方法,可使Mg(OH)2在PP中分散均匀。这种阻燃PP可兼具很多应用领域所需材料的机械性能及阻燃性能,还具有抑烟、低毒、无卤、不用Sb2O3,环境友好,配方成本低的特点,有较高的经济效益和社会效益。
