无力场 电流方向与磁场平行,因而电磁力为零的磁场,又称无作用力磁场。对携带强磁场的稀薄气体,要维持这种磁场,只有在其气体压力远小于磁压力,而电磁体积力又处处为零的情况下才有可能。磁场为无力场的充分必要条件是墷×B=α(r,t)B,其中B 为磁场强度,α为无力因子,通常是空间位置r和时间t的函数。无力因子α为常数值的磁场是无力场的一种特殊情况,称为稳定无力场。一团受强磁场约束的稀薄导电气体,无论其系统的初始状态如何,只要 α不是常数,这个系统就是不稳定的。但经过演化而趋于稳定时,这时系统的势能,也就是磁能趋于最小状态,即成为稳定无力场。在太阳色球层,由于气体稀薄,气体压力和重力远小于磁压力,色球气体处于稳定状态,其磁场属于无力场。在研究天体磁场时,只要所研究的区域不是处于激烈的活动状态,其瞬时的磁场形态均可以近似地用α 为某一常数值的无力场来表示。
