楚文化楚文化中国古代以楚国为代表的南方地区的区域性文化。西周成王封楚子熊绎于丹阳，春秋初楚文王始都于郢，开始在江汉地区发展。至春秋晚期，楚国兼并了申、息、邓等四五十个小国，成为南方最强大的诸侯国。在江汉地区地方经济发展及中原文化与当地文化融合的基础上，楚文化逐步形成。楚文化是中国古代文明的重要组成部分，是汉代文化的重要基础及来源之一，曾对西周春秋战国时期的中国西南、东南地区文化产生过重大影响。从文化内涵来看，楚文化与中原文化在根本上是一致的。如河南淅川下寺楚国令尹子庚墓随葬青铜列鼎7件，安徽寿县朱家集李三孤堆楚幽王墓随葬青铜列鼎9件，说明楚国大贵族遵从周代的礼制。但楚文化又有鲜明的地方特点：①楚国冶铁业发达。从考古发现看，楚国的铁农具、铁兵器出土数量最多，发展水平最高。如湖南长沙杨家山楚墓出土的春秋晚期铁剑，已是含碳0.5%的中碳钢。②楚国的青铜冶铸业发达。河南淅川下寺楚墓出土的春秋晚期青铜禁，是已发现时代最早的失蜡法铸件。湖北大冶铜绿山古矿冶遗址，据研究曾冶炼出8万～12万吨铜，可见当时青铜冶铸业的规模。同时楚国青铜器地方特点鲜明，如侈耳浅腹平底的鼎、风格清秀的瘦高足鼎及球形敦等形制特殊；青铜器的纹饰繁缛细腻，附饰十分发达。③楚国的陶器亦有特色，如小口罐形高柱足绳纹鬲即被称为楚式鬲。④楚文化丝织业发达。如湖北江陵马山1号墓出土罗、纱、绢、锦、绣、绦等大量的丝织品，质地精良，色彩绚丽，被称为丝绸宝库。⑤楚国漆器工艺发达。既有耳杯、几、奁等生活用器，又有镇墓兽等楚地特有的随葬品。此外，楚国地区还有以老子为代表的道家学说、以屈原为代表的楚辞及发达的巫风和乐舞等精神文化。
