和声和声harmony两个以上不同的音按一定的法则同时发声而构成的音响组合。包括和弦与和声进行。和弦，是和声的基本素材，由3个或3个以上不同的音，根据三度叠置或其他方法同时结合构成，这是和声的纵向结构。和声进行，指各和弦的先后连接，这是和声的横向运动。和声在音乐中所起的作用是：①声部的组合作用。在统一的和声基础上，各声部相互组合形成协调的整体。②乐曲的结构作用。通过和声进行、终止式、调性布局等在构成曲式方面起重要作用。③内容的表现作用。通过和声的色彩、织体以及配合其他因素，塑造音乐形象、表现音乐内容。和声的处理是音乐创作的重要写作技巧，也是对位、配器、曲式等其他作曲技法的基础。在调性音乐中，和声同时具有功能性与色彩性的意义。和声的功能，是指各和弦在调性内所具有的稳定或不稳定的作用、它们的运动与倾向特性、彼此之间的逻辑联系等。和声的色彩，是指各种和弦结构、和声位置、织体写法与和声进行等所具有的音响效果。在中国专业音乐创作中，和声的应用约从20世纪初开始，最初采用欧洲大、小调和声方法。由于旋律多为五声调式，因此，和声如何适应旋律的风格，就成为中国作曲家在实践中不断探索的课题。初时的和声大都是在大、小调和声的基础上加强副三和弦的作用以及应用附加六度音的大三和弦等方法，并注意声部的五声化进行。30、40年代的作曲家开始借鉴欧洲民族乐派以及印象派的某些和声方法，如自然调式和声、五声化和声结构以及四、五度和弦、替代和弦等都在创作中得到运用。50年代以后，中国作曲家们在保持调性、调式的基础上，进行了许多新探索，包括五声化和声结构、复杂的和声结合、复合和声、四度和声、调式交替变音和声等。
