缩微技术缩微技术microtechnology图书馆、档案馆等机构为保护珍贵图书、文献而采用的技术。又称缩微摄影。它采用照相方法，把文献和资料的影象缩小记录下来，然后以缩微资料及相应的放大设备提供读者借阅。这种缩微胶卷（片）有利于保存、携带，应用范围十分广泛。缩微复制使用的设备很多，其中主要是缩微摄影机和感光材料的冲洗设备。目前使用较多的有平台式缩微机、轮转式缩微摄影机和计算机输出（COM）缩微摄影机等类型。感光胶卷（片）由缩微摄影机拍摄曝光后，要经过冲冼加工（一般包括显影、定影、水洗和干燥等过程）才能成为可使用的缩微品。现在，缩微技术正在进一步向高密度存贮和还原复制方向发展，COM和CIM技术的出现，使存贮和传递信息的能力和效率大为提高。计算机有了COM和CIM这样的外围设备配合使用，将会发挥更大的作用。
