“常颌须鱼”级(barbel)常规潜艇“常颌须鱼”级常规潜艇使美国战后建造的最后一艘常规潜艇,共三艘,于1959年-1960年相继服役。进入80年代,这级潜艇相继退役,但是由于当代众多西方潜艇以其为原型,如日本的“涡潮”级常规潜艇,美国的“鲣鱼”级核动力攻击潜艇等,在潜艇发展史上有着重要地位,因此这里必须加以介绍。该级潜艇利用了“大青花鱼”试验艇的线型,首次采用了水滴型艇体和攻击、导航集中控制系统。该级艇全部服役于太平洋舰队。该级艇长66.8米,艇宽8.8米,吃水5.8米,长宽比为7.6,水上排水量2145吨,水下排水量2894吨,是一种肥顿的水滴型艇体,艇艉采用十字形操纵面,大型五叶低速螺旋桨,这也是“大青花鱼”的试验结果。在新建时,采用的是可上折叠的艏水平舵,1961年改装后,改成通用围壳舵。现代各国核潜艇(如美、俄、法)等一般均采用围壳舵,只有英国核潜艇仍采用艏水平多。常规潜艇的舵的形式各个不一,日本“涡潮”级潜艇在艇型和操纵面布置上是完全因袭了“常和须鱼”级潜艇。
