江蓠 属红藻门(Rhodophyta)真红藻纲(Florideae)、 杉藻目(Gigartinales)江蓠科(Gracilariaceae)江蓠属(Gracilaria) 的统称。本属共约近100种,中国的种类有龙须菜(G.sjoestedtii)、江蓠(G.verrucosa)、芋根江蓠(G.blodgettii)、脆江蓠(G.bursa-pastoris)、凤尾菜(G.eucheumoides)和扁江蓠(G.textorii)等十多种。是提取琼胶的主要原料。 江蓠为暖水性藻类,热带、亚热带及温带都有生长,热带和亚热带海区分布的种类更多。自然生长的数量以阿根廷、智利沿海最多,其次为巴西、南非、日本、中国及菲律宾沿海,印度、马来西亚及澳大利亚沿海也有一定数量。中国主要产地在南海和东海,黄海较少。 形态和生物学特性 江蓠的外形多呈圆柱状,少数种类扁平或呈叶状。藻体直立,丛生或单生。体高由几厘米到1米以上。分枝疏密不等,互生、偏生或分叉。分枝基部有的缢缩,枝的顶端尖细或钝圆。固着器多呈盘状,边缘整齐或呈波形。 江蓠的生活史分孢子体和配子体两个世代,配子体又分雌、 雄两种,3种藻体的外形相似。孢子体成熟时(即成藻藻体)由皮层细胞形成许多呈十字分裂的四分孢子囊,每个孢子囊中有四个孢子。孢子放散出来便萌发成配子体。雄配子体成熟时,由藻体皮层细胞形成精子囊窠,内有许多精子囊,精子从藻体放散出来后游离到雌配子体上,使果胞受精,发育成囊果,突出于藻体表面。囊果也称果孢子体,内有许多果孢子。果孢子放散出来萌发成长为孢子体。江蓠多固着在潮间带或低潮线附近石块、砂砾、贝壳及碎珊瑚上生长。内湾的生长密度较大,藻体肥大且色深;外海也有生长,藻体较短小,色较浅。 养殖 养殖场所在海区一般要求风浪较小、水质澄清、潮流通畅、有一定淡水流入和营养盐丰富,在潮间带浅滩要求地势平坦、退潮后略有积水、底质较硬。浮筏式养殖要求退潮后能保持 2米以上的水深。海区适宜水温为5~20℃,盐度为15~30,此外敌害生物要少。 主要的养殖方式是池塘撒苗养殖。先在海边建造池塘,池内清除杂藻和其他敌害生物,由闸门引进海水,保持水深0.5米左右。然后将江蓠种苗撒在池塘中,每亩约投放鲜藻体300千克, 让其悬浮生长。每隔3~4天利用潮汐换水1次,并施放尿素等化肥。每月收获1次,留下一定种苗,使其继续生长。由于生长快、周期短,生产季节长,故产量较高。潮间带整畦播苗养殖是先将浅滩整理成畦,退潮后留有少许海水,把江蓠幼苗连同生长基质整齐地播种在畦上。经2~3个月的栽培管理,即可收获。此外还有潮间带浮筏式夹苗养殖和浅海浮筏式夹苗养殖等方式,产量稍高,但成本也大。 养殖用苗源可来自自然苗或人工采孢子育苗。自然苗是成熟江蓠藻体在自然海区放散孢子、萌发生长而成的幼苗。人工采孢子育苗是在海区或育苗室内使江蓠的孢子附着在人工生长基质上萌发生长成幼苗。 加工 江蓠收获后,经洗涤晒干即成为提取琼胶的原料。干品的含胶量约为20%左右。琼胶提取需经浸碱、洗涤、酸化、漂白、煮胶、推条、冷冰干燥或压榨干燥、包装等工序。
