珙桐(水梨子、鸽子树)形态特征:珙桐科珙桐属落叶乔木植物。树皮暗灰褐色,粗糙,呈不规则薄片状开裂。叶互生,纸质,宽卵形,边缘有锯齿。花杂性,顶生头状花序由一朵两性花和多朵雄花组成,花序下有两片白色大苞片,长7-15厘米,宽3-5厘米。核果长卵形,长3-4厘米,紫绿色,有黄色斑点,种子3-5粒。生境分布;生于海拔1800-2200米的山地林中。分布于湖北西部、四川、贵州及云南北部。中国特有的珍稀保护植物。用途:是建筑上等用料,适于制作家具和作雕刻材料。为著名的观赏树种。
