天理与人欲天理与人欲中国哲学史上关于伦理道德与物质欲望之间关系的范畴。先秦时,孔子、孟子认为声色富贵等欲望,应以道得之,否则,便不应接受。荀子认为,应当有限度地满足人的情欲。道家老子、庄子倡导“无欲”。两汉时,董仲舒阐发孔孟思想,强调道和理,轻视功利和物欲。王充则以为人民的物欲得到满足之后,才知道礼节和荣辱。魏晋时,王弼继承老子的无欲,提倡无所欲求,反对物质欲望。裴把满足物质欲望当作“保生”的条件,反对无欲。《礼记·乐记》明确把天理与人欲作为一对伦理道德范畴提出。宋明理学家融合儒家的理欲观,强调“明天理,灭人欲”。程颐说:“不是天理,便是私欲”,“无人欲即皆天理”。以封建社会的伦理为天理,认为天理人欲不两立。朱熹发展了程颐的思想,认为天理人欲,不容并立,两者是对立的。但又认为,“人欲”不全是不好,在一定限度内是合理的,以日常饮食之欲为天理,求美味为人欲,要求以理节欲。王守仁在哲学上虽与程朱有异,但主张存天理,灭人欲则同。认为去尽人欲,纯是天理,便是圣人。李贽反对把天理与人欲对立起来。王夫之认为“天理”寓于“人欲”之中。“礼虽纯为天理之节文,而必寓于人欲以见”。强调天理不能脱离人欲。但他并没有完全摆脱程朱的影响,以人欲的大公为天理的至正,把人们共同的欲望作为天理。这是抽象人性论。戴震比较系统地论述了理欲问题,提出“理存于欲”的学说,以为“凡事为皆有于欲,无欲则无为矣”;“无欲无为,又焉有理。”
