河外射电双源和多重源 河外射电展源中最典型的也是数量最多的(占40%)一种是双源。双源的最普遍的特征是,在相隔几万至两百万光年的距离上形成两块射电瓣(又称为子源)。证认出的光学对应体(星系或类星体)往往位于此两子源连线的中心。子源的远离光学母体的外边缘处射电亮度变化很陡,而且更接近最大值(此区域常是1″量级大小的致密成分),而向光学母体方向的则是亮度逐渐减弱的辐射延伸部分。最典型的代表是天鹅座A(见射电星系)。有时,光学母体两边是以两个强的外子源为主体的多个子源的组合结构,但仍然成为近似对称分布的所谓多重源。这种直线和对称排列的双源特征,在其所属的光学母体的致密射电区内有时能重现,就是说在不到双源的10-4~10-5的范围内,即在光学体小于0奬01(或几十光年)的区域内,仍然有成双的小致密源出现,而且里、外双源的连线基本上是一致的,例如,3C326、33C111、3C390.3、3C405等射电源。 双源的普遍特性,如流量不变化,具有幂律谱 (Sv∝v-α,平均频谱指数α 约为0.75), 有百分之几的线偏振而没有圆偏振,磁场为10-4~10-5高斯,射电光度强(1040~1045尔格/秒), 能量高(1058~1081尔格)等等都与一般展源相同。对双源已进行了大量的观测统计,得出的结果是两个子源的流量密度相差不大,平均只差40%。两个子源与光学母体的距离也相差不大,双源中较亮的子源更靠近光学母体,直径较小,频谱较平。两个子源之间的距离约为子源直径的 2~4倍。在双源间距为 6~100万光年的范围内,不同射电源的子源大致以同样方式膨胀和相互分离, 形成了从中心向外抛射的圆锥体(圆锥角约20°~50°)。源的光度越大,双源之间的距离越大,抛射圆锥也就越窄。射电源主轴方向(两个子源的连线方向)与光学星系主轴方向成各种交角,表明二者没有相关性。同样,射电源主轴与偏振方位角之间也没有明显的相关性。以全部双源为例进行统计,没有发现射电光度与频谱指数或展源直径或光学亮度之间有什么关系。子源明亮头部的线偏振只有百分之几,而在延伸向光学母体的局部地区的线偏振则达到百分之几十,甚至高达百分之七十。 双源和多重源的这些特性提出了三个必须解决的问题:①成双的对称性和一线排列问题;②在极其稀薄的介质中,子源抛射膨胀成形而不瓦解的约束机制问题;③巨额能量的来源和转换方式以及如何向子源进行输运的问题。目前流行的模型基本上有三种:等离子体团抛射及膨胀,大质量物体的一次抛射,连续喷射束。 参考书目 A.G.Pacholczyk,Radio Galaxies,Pargamon Press, Oxford, 1977.
