碘 125 元素碘的一种放射性同位素。符号屰I,简写为125I（见放射性、同位素）。 碘125是轨道电子俘获衰变核素,发射的γ射线能量为0.03548兆电子伏。半衰期为60.14天。3.7×107贝可的碘125重5.76×10-6克。3.7×107贝可的碘125点源在1厘米远处的照射量率是0.66伦琴／时。碘125属中毒性核素,紧要器官是甲状腺,对人体的有效半减期为41.7天。碘125的化学性质与元素碘相同。 产生碘 125的核反应有124Xe(n,γ)125Xe125I、123Sb(α,2n)125I、125Te(p,n)125I、125Te(d,2n)125I、127I(p,3n)125Xe125I等，其中第一个核反应最有实用价值。用天然氙(124Xe的丰度为 0.10％)气作靶材料,在液氮冷冻条件下将氙气装入厚壁锆－2合金或铝质靶筒内,焊接密封,然后送入反应堆内照射，生成碘125。由于碘 125吸收热中子的截面相当大,故碘125产品中通常总含有一定量的碘126。而碘126衰变类型比碘125复杂且能量也高，既影响标记也不利于应用。所以常将碘 125产品放置一段时间(冷却)，使比碘125半衰期短得多的碘126衰变掉,碘126的含量一般限制在2％以下。用堆回路法可直接制备出碘126含量少、比活度高的碘125。其方法是让氙气在一个密闭的回路里，于反应堆内外循环。当气流流经堆内活性区受中子辐照时，产生碘125；当碘125随气流到堆外部分时，将它收集起来,这部分碘125便不再回到堆内活性区受中子辐照,因而产生碘126的机会很少，所以产品即使不经过冷却,其碘 126的含量也在1％以下。将碘125从靶筒中或密闭回路中转移出来之后,通常是做成Na125I溶液。Na125I溶液是碘125的初级产品。 碘 125的应用范围非常广泛。利用其低能内转换电子，可以进行放射自显影，如作甲状腺肿瘤活组织检查；碘125能发射能量适宜的单能光子（即低能γ射线）,可用它做成简便、精确度高、剂量率低的骨密度精确测定装置；用碘125做成的低能光子源还可用于X射线荧光分析，来测定元素周期表上从砷到镉许多元素的含量。但是碘 125最广泛的应用还是作为标记试剂来标记各种各样的化合物，尤其是体外放射性免疫分析用的制剂（见碘标记化合物）。 参考书目 Radioisotope Production and Quality Control,Technical Report Series, No. 128, IAEA, Vienna, 1971.
