吡咯吡咯pyrrole含有一个氮杂原子的五元杂环化合物。分子式C4H5N。吡咯及其甲基取代的同系物存在于骨焦油内。无色液体。沸点130~131℃,相对密度0.9691(20/4℃)。微溶于水,易溶于乙醇、乙醚等有机溶剂。吡咯在微量氧的作用下就可变黑;松片反应给出红色;在盐酸作用下聚合成为吡咯红;对氧化剂一般不稳定。它可以发生取代反应,主要在2位或5位上取代。在15℃时,吡咯在乙酸酐中用硝酸硝化,得到2-硝基吡咯,产量不高,一部分变为树脂状物质。吡咯形式上是一个二级胺,但在稀酸中溶解得很慢;环上的氢被烷基取代后碱性增强,可形成不溶解的盐。吡咯可与苦味酸形成盐;还可还原成二氢和四氢吡咯。
