周作人周作人（1885～1967）中国作家，翻译家。浙江绍兴人。原名櫆寿，字星杓，自号启明、知堂等。笔名有仲密、药堂、周遐寿等。1901年秋入南京水师学堂。1906年赴日本留学，与鲁迅一起编译《域外小说集》，后入东京政法大学、立教大学文科学习。1911年回国后，在浙江从事教育工作。1917年春任北京大学文科教授兼国史编纂处纂辑员。周作人是五四新文化运动重要代表人物，参与《新青年》的编撰活动，参加发起文学研究会；提倡“思想革命”，以“人的文学”、“平民文学”的口号，推动新文化运动和文学革命的发展；同时热心译介外国文学，并用自己的散文和新诗创作显示了文学革命的实绩。20年代中期，他主编过《语丝》，写了大量着重于“社会批评”与“文明批评”的杂文随笔，以及一些表现个人情趣的小品散文。后来思想逐渐远离时代主流，鼓吹闭门读书，提倡闲适小品。1937年抗日战争爆发后，他滞留北平，不久出任伪华北政务委员会常务委员兼教育督办、东亚文化协会会长等职。日本投降后，以叛国罪于1945年12月入狱。1949年1月保释。50年代以后，在北京主要从事日本、希腊文学作品的翻译工作。周作人20年代小照周作人一生著述涉及十分广泛的领域。在民俗学研究、儿童文学与民间文学研究，希腊及日本文化研究等方面都作了开拓性的贡献。他的著作有散文集《自己的园地》、《雨天的书》、《泽泻集》、《谈虎集》、《看云集》、《知堂文集》、《立春以前》等20余种。论著有《艺术与生活》、《欧洲文学史》、《中国新文学的源流》、《儿童文学小论》等。译著有《现代日本小说集》（与鲁迅合译）、《古事记》、《枕草子》、《日本狂言选》、《希腊拟曲》、《阿里斯托芬喜剧集》（与罗念生合译）等，还有回忆录《鲁迅的故家》、《知堂回想录》等。
