土壤生态系统 陆地生态系统中的一个亚系统。指土壤与环境（包括生物和非生物）构成的复合体。在这个复合体内，土壤、生物、大气三者间进行着物质和能量的交换：植物（生产者）吸收土壤中的养分、水分和大气中的二氧化碳，借助光合作用将太阳能转化为化学能和植物性产品；植物性产品经动物区系（消费者）的利用和微生物区系（还原者）的分解，一部分以分解产物(CO2和H2O)的形式释放至大气中,一部分以腐殖质的形式残留于土壤,另一部分则随水流入海洋。 土壤生态系统的功能主要表现在系统内的物质流和能量流的速度、强度及其循环和传递的方式。这种功能可通过人工措施调节和加强。 土壤生态系统由3个层次构成。第1层次为近地表的大气带,包括光、热、水等影响生物生长的环境因素;第2层次为生物地被带,由植物及其根系和相应的微生物以及动物区系组成；第3层次为岩石风化带,由岩石风化产物或运积物组成,是形成土壤的基础物质。这3个层次构成一个整体，彼此间进行物质和能量的交换；而交换作用的容量和强度则受时间和空间条件的制约，因而土壤生态系统存在着地区上的差异。 土壤生态系统分森林土壤生态系统，草原土壤生态系统和农田土壤生态系统3种类型,可相互演变。这种演变除取决于成土因素外，还深受人类活动的影响。如火灾和人工砍伐可使森林土壤生态系统转变为草原土壤生态系统，其物质流和能量流的速度和强度也随之而改变，并进而影响土壤性质，最终导致土壤类型的演变。由于土壤生态系统中的生物因素改变较快，而土壤性质的变化则较迟缓，土壤通常可成为其他生态系统的历史鉴证。
