澄江动物群澄江动物群Chengjiangfauna1984年发现于云南省澄江县早寒武世早期地层的动物群。以多门类海生软躯体和保存有软体部分的古无脊椎动物化石为代表。包括海绵、腔肠动物、蠕虫、腕足类、软舌螺、内肛虫、节肢动物和一些分类位置不明的化石。化石丰富,其软体组织、器官保存完美,是迄今世界上已知少数几个早期珍贵无脊椎动物化石产地之一。真形星口水母尖峰虫东方日射虫澄江动物群的时代介于前寒武纪末期的伊迪卡拉动物群和寒武纪中期的布尔吉斯页岩动物群之间,正处在只有软躯体后生动物的伊迪卡拉动物群出现之后和生物门类已相当齐全的布尔吉斯页岩动物群出现之前。因此,澄江动物群的发现与研究,对于探讨无脊椎动物的早期演化具有特殊重要的意义,对阐明寒武纪早期地球演化发展的奥秘也提供了具有重大科学价值的线索。
