中国博物馆学教育 中国博物馆学教育始于20世纪40年代。1943年社会教育学院举办博物馆学教育，招收过 3期学生。1948年北京大学历史系设置博物馆学专修科，1952年调整为考古学专业,内设博物馆学概论课。60年代初,文化部文化学院开办过文物博物馆系和文物博物馆干部学习班，南开大学历史系设有博物馆学专业组，中央美术学院美术史系等也设有博物馆学课程。1978年以后，中国的博物馆学教育有了较大的发展，高等教育、中等职业教育和短期职业培训迅速发展。 高等教育 1980年上海大学文学院 (原复旦大学分校 )和南开大学历史系首先设立博物馆学专业；以后杭州大学、吉林大学、复旦大学等也相继开办。中国人民大学、武汉大学、复旦大学等 8所院校还设立博物馆学专修科，主要培训博物馆在职业务人员。郑州大学、厦门大学、南京大学考古学专业等也分别增设了博物馆学方面的课程。博物馆学专业的主要课程有：博物馆学概论、博物馆社会教育学、古器物学、绘画史、古文字学、古代建筑、佛教艺术、民族学概论、方志学、考古学或物质文化史、制图与摄影等，并举办了世界博物馆概况、博物馆陈列、博物馆保管、现代科技与文物保护鉴定、文物保护法等系列讲座。复旦大学、南开大学的博物馆学专业还培养博物馆学硕士研究生。 中等职业教育 文化部文物事业管理局以及江苏省南京市、南通市等文化行政部门，先后举办过文物职业高中班、中等职业学校，除基础文化课外，还开设博物馆学、青铜器、陶瓷、文物复制、古代建筑等课程，以培养博物馆技术性或一般性业务工作人员。 短期职业培训 1981年初，文化部文物事业管理局在召开了博物馆干部培训会议后，先后在江苏省扬州市、山东省泰安市等地建立了文物博物馆干部培训中心，每期2～6个月，每期一个中心内容，其中有博物馆学、博物馆陈列、陶瓷器、青铜器、书画、文物摄影等，分别请专家学者讲授。
