詹纳詹纳(1749~1823)Jenner,Edward英国乡村医师。1749年5月17日生于英格兰格洛斯特郡伯克利,1823年2月26日卒于同地。出身牧师家庭。13岁时随家乡的一外科医师学徒,后至伦敦,师从J.亨特。1773年返回故乡行医。1803年后于伦敦皇家詹纳学会工作。1813年获剑桥大学博士学位。注意到患过牛痘的人不再会感染天花,1796年他用牛痘疹的脓浆,当时他称之为“病毒”,首次试验给一名8岁儿童接种,预防天花获得成功。翌年,将结果写成文章送交皇家学会,遭到拒绝。经过许多周折后他发明的牛痘接种法终于得到公认。为此,英国国会先后奖给他3万英镑以表彰其贡献。代表作为《种牛痘的原因与效果的探讨》。詹纳塑像
