《救荒本草》 中国明代食用野生植物专著。作者朱，是明太祖朱元璋的第五子，明成祖朱棣的胞弟。洪武三年(1370)受封为吴王,十一年改封为周王。洪熙元年(1425)卒,谥曰定，世称周定王。因皇族内部争斗，曾二度被放逐云南，使他有了接近下层人民的机会。为救荒防饥，他曾遍访老农，辨认野生草木，并搜集活标本在园圃中亲自栽培、观察研究,选择其中可供充饥佐食者绘图著文,编成本书。原作两卷，永乐四年(1406)由作者在开封刻印。以后传刻中卷数曾有增减，内容则始终如一。全书分为五部，共记载植物414种，计草部245种，木部80种，米谷部20种，果部23种，菜部46种。其中 276种为以往本草书中所未见者。所录植物有图有说，图文并茂。文字说明包括别名、产地、性味、毒性、加工制备、服食方法以及介绍当时用以治病的经验或作某种药物的代用品等。 本书问世后，明代相继出现了王磐的《野菜谱》等多种同类著作，引起了对食用植物的研究风气。后来为《本草纲目》和《农政全书》全文转录，但所题撰写人"周宪王"实系"周定王"之误。早在18世纪初即传到日本，还被译成英文出版。
