骨髓骨髓bone marrow  充满骨内腔隙的柔软组织。约占体重的4.5%,是人体最大的造血器官。分为红骨髓和黄骨髓。胎儿及婴幼儿的骨髓都是红髓,约从5岁开始,长骨骨干骨髓腔内的红骨髓出现脂肪组织,红骨髓逐渐被黄骨髓所代替,黄骨髓随年龄增长而增多,成人的红骨髓和黄骨髓约各占一半。成人的红骨髓主要分布在扁骨、不规则骨及长骨骺端的松质骨中,具有活跃的造血功能。黄骨髓充满在长骨骨干的骨髓腔内,主要由脂肪组织构成,已停止造血,但黄骨髓仍保持着造血的潜能,当机体需要时还可转变为红骨髓进行造血。
