库普兰，F. 法国作曲家。1668年11月10日生于巴黎,1733年9月11日卒于同地。幼年从父亲学音乐，后从国王礼拜堂的管风琴师J.-D.托梅兰学习对位法。11岁时父亲去世,他接任圣热尔韦教堂管风琴师。1693年托梅兰死去，他应试被录用继任国王礼拜堂的管风琴师职。他是王子和其他宫廷贵族子女的音乐教师，颇受国王路易十四的信任。他不但是个著名的管风琴家，也是个技术精湛的哈普西科德演奏家。1713年起他的《哈普西科德曲集》（4卷）陆续出版，1716年出版了著名的《哈普西科德演奏法》，是当时有代表性的哈普西科德教科书。受到J.S.巴赫的重视。他继承了前辈作曲家从J.-B.吕利到J.C.de尚博尼埃的创作传统，吸收意大利器乐新流派A.科雷利等人的风格特点，进行大胆改革。其创作除管风琴曲、哈普西科德曲以外，还有室内合奏曲、世俗声乐曲等。他的哈普西科德曲大多数有标题，但不是情节性的标题音乐，而是在描绘肖像或风景时力求深入人的精神世界。精细的心理刻划，使器乐带有声乐化的形象表现性。他的小品也表现了各种各样的内容，笔触细腻，旋律新颖，并多使用装饰音，结构上常采用回旋曲式，以求在作品内部形成对比。库普兰家族从17世纪以来不断涌现出杰出的音乐家，这一点可以同德国的巴赫家族相媲美，其中最著名的是F.库普兰。他的创作被后人视为法国古典主义音乐艺术的顶峰。
