管律 从气柱振动发音原理出发，以律管为正律器，根据管长数据而算律的中国律学计算体系。常与"弦律"起相辅相成的作用。 古代科技条件下，正律器不外弦、管两种途径。弦律计算一定律制中各律间的相对比率，精确性优于管律。但弦线张力无定，一定管长的发音虽受用气与温度、湿度等条件影响，较弦之无定的张力尚有一定准确精度。因此，无论采用管律或弦律的计算体系，其出发律黄钟音高概以律管为准。由于这一点，律管亦被直接命名为"律"。 管律按材料区分，有竹律、铜律、玉律等。玉律较罕见，常专指晋代在汲郡出土的魏襄王冢玉律，或梁武帝所说的"相传有玉律一口"的"古钟玉律"。管律按用途或形制区分时，有竽律、笛律、叉手笛律等。宋代的叉手笛原为宫廷乐器,因与宫廷所定的律制相合,"可通八十四调",而被用作正律器,改名"拱宸管"（《宋史·乐志》）。 管律的计算方法，除笛律(如晋荀勗的晋泰始笛律)、叉手笛另有规律外，一般的律管不能直接采用管长数据来计算它的音高。求取准确的音高，须作"管口校正"，即在管内气柱长度之外，补充以各种溢出管口外的气柱长度，以校正误差。 汉京房提出"竹声不可以度调"的观点，是针对管律计算中不作管口校正的汉代现状而发的。他的管律数据实际是以弦律为准，缩小到十分之一的虚拟数据。这一管律体系发展到南北朝时，体现在梁武帝的四通（四具弦准）十二笛（十二只律管）上，成了"用笛以写通声"的做法，即对黄钟管以外各律皆不计算管长而根据弦准的实际音高来制笛的方法。 另一体系则是把管口校正计算在内的荀勗同径管律与明代朱载堉的异径管律。荀勗以十二笛中各均正声调宫音的对应律长减去一个角音的对应律长为管口校正数，并把繁复的计算化为律尺进、退、上、下的直观形式，从而形成了简易的操作。朱载堉则在直接用弦律的比率关系度量管长的条件下，将向上作半音迭进的各律管内径迭除以24匇，作为管口校正数。 朱载堉对管律方法作了如上的重大改革以后，律学史上仍然存在无视管口校正科学原理的倾向。清代康熙"十四律"，实际上是从音阶形式上的乐学实践到管口校正问题上的管律实践都全面歪曲了乐律学基本原理的一种反科学的管律。
