吸管亚纲  原生动物门纤毛动物亚门动基片纲的1亚纲,通称吸管虫。因身体射出吸管捕获食物而得名。根据斯莫尔和里恩1985年的分类系统,把吸管亚纲划分为3个目、17个科。已报道500多种。吸管虫的体形多样化,有球形、椭圆形、瓶形、杯形、树枝形等。其营养体在成熟期营固着生活,用柄或身体后端固着在各种基质上。全部纤毛均退化,只有自身体表射出1至多个吸管状的触手以捕获和吮吸食物。掠食方式十分有趣,能因口味不合而放过细小的鞭毛虫,如果感到有可口的猎物(如草履虫)靠近,就突然伸长触手刺入捕获物,并立即放出毒素以麻醉它,然后慢慢吸吮其最有营养价值的细胞核部分。在掠食时伸缩泡的活动频率也大大加快。这种吃食用的触手的顶端有一个小的球形结节,叫吮吸触手。另一种触手较细长,顶端是尖的,作为抓食时卷缠捕获物之用,叫抓握触手。只有少数种类同时有这两种类型的触手。触手在全身分布均匀,或聚集成束。柄自身体后部的帚胚处伸出,长短不一,有的种类无柄。一般有一个伸缩泡及大、小核。大核的形状多变,有椭圆、长带、树枝等形状。有的种类还有几丁质的外壳以保护身体。无性生殖以出芽的方式进行。在母体表面突出 1至多个幼体胚芽,称为外出芽。母体表膜内凹成一囊状的胚室,母体的一部分细胞核和细胞质流入胚室,在胚室内进行分裂,称为内出芽。幼体表面有纤毛行列,但无触手,离开母体后在水中自由游动,遇合适的基质时,就长出柄或用后端固着,于是体纤毛退化,长出吸管,发育为成体。吸管虫的生态分布很广,能生活在海水、咸水和淡水中,除了着生在砂、石、残片、水生植物等基质上外,还能着生在其他纤毛虫的柄、无脊椎动物的外壳、脊椎动物的体表上。有少数是内寄生种类。代表种为淡水的固着吸管虫。
